To succeed in today’s world, you need to do more than just advertise and promote; you need to be remarkable. You need to be worth talking about and worth a person’s time and energy. Benjamin Franklin once said “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing”, and if businesses keep that quote in mind while making their business decisions, they will be far better off than their competitors. With a plethora of media at our fingertips, it is all too easy to get online read a review about a company, product or service, ask a friend about a particular experience they had with a company, or accomplish a D.I.Y. way of achieving what they need. Those are a lot of ways in which a person can come to the conclusion that they shouldn’t buy from you. But while a lot of people see all these aspects of media as a detriment, there are some that see it for what it has the potential to be; free marketing.

Successful companies realize that there is a huge opportunity to be had with all the technology that we have, and in order to make effective use of it, they just need to be remarkable. If you give someone something worth talking about, then all the work will be done for you. People will start doing exactly what you want them to; they’ll start talking. They’ll start posting things about your company online, they’ll start writing positive reviews, telling their friends, and creating a buzz so big about your company that you couldn’t even have paid for it – even with a million dollar advertising budget. How’s that for a marketing campaign!
Now I’m not saying that you won’t have to put in a little time, energy, and money. But if you can get the right things in place, with the right ideas, then the rest will work itself out and you’ll be looking at your company and asking yourself why you didn’t do something remarkable sooner.
