People aren’t born leaders, they choose it. LeBron James was born an amazing athlete; it’s in his genes; same as Michael Jordan. Naturally, they are athletes, and all their hard work and dedication only amplified that athleticism. But not everyone is born a great athlete; some of us have those skills, and some of us don’t. Leadership however, is something entirely different.

Leadership is something that we choose to do. Any one of us can choose to lead; to stand up for the bullied kid in class, to open the door for an elderly woman, or even throw away that gum wrapper that somebody lazily threw on the ground. Taking it one step further, we can be the one to lead an African-American civil rights movement, or even walk on the moon. The people who have done these things are leaders, they decided to make a difference and pave the way for others. Those decisions aren’t something they attributed to the way we were born; they just had the courage to make those choices.
So next time someone says to you, “You’re a natural-born leader”, tell them: “No, it’s just something I choose to do.”
